What are the proposed changes to the patent bar eligibility requirements?

The USPTO proposes changes to make the patent bar exam application process more efficient by revising the main eligibility categories to:

  • broaden the degrees that fall into the category that doesn’t require additional proofs and/or qualifications;

  • easing knowledge requirements; and

  • easing certain requirements when a lab component exists.
